WHY SEEK MEDIA-SPECIFIC PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT?

Working in media often involves unique pressures that are not always understood in general mental health settings. Long hours, high-stakes deadlines, exposure to distressing material, public scrutiny, and insecure or freelance work can all take a psychological toll. Media-specific psychological support recognises these realities and offers informed, confidential care that is tailored to the demands of media, film, journalism, and digital work — without needing to explain the industry from scratch.

FAQs

Who is Media Psych Support for?

1

Media Psych Support is for people working across film, television, journalism, and digital media — including cast, crew, journalists, contributors, and content creators. Support is available whether you are currently working on a production, working freelance, or dealing with the longer-term impact of past media work.

What kind of support do you offer?

2

We offer confidential, one-to-one psychological support tailored to the specific pressures of media and creative work. This may include support for stress, anxiety, burnout, trauma symptoms, vicarious trauma, moral injury, and difficulties related to public exposure or high-pressure environments. We are in the processing of developing workshops online followed by regular live Q&A. We also provide training and workshops to production teams, as well as specialist assessment services for those who identify as neurodivergent, ensuring high quality care is in place from ‘the onset’.

Do I need to be in crisis to access support?

3

No. Many people seek support because they feel overwhelmed, emotionally impacted by their work, or want a space to process difficult experiences before things escalate. You do not need a diagnosis or to be “at breaking point” to reach out.

Is the support confidential?

4

Yes. All sessions are confidential and delivered in line with professional and ethical standards. The only exceptions to confidentiality are situations where there is a serious risk of harm, in line with safeguarding requirements.

Do you work with freelancers and self-employed professionals?

5

Yes. We support freelancers, self-employed workers, and people moving between contracts. We understand the unique pressures of insecure work, gaps between jobs, and the lack of organisational support in freelance roles.
