Clinical Mental Health Nurse Specialist/Psychological Therapist

Hi, I’m Amanda,

II am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist, Psychological Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse, with extensive experience across the NHS, private healthcare, the British Army and television production.

I hold an MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Merit), a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (Merit), a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing, and advanced EMDR training. I am also currently completing a British Psychological Society (BPS)-accredited MSc Psychology (Conversion), further developing my academic and professional knowledge of psychological theory, research and practice.

My clinical career has given me substantial expertise in psychological assessment, formulation, risk assessment, trauma-informed practice and the development of evidence-based interventions.

Television & Production Mental Health Support

Since 2011, I have provided specialist psychological and mental health support to television companies across entertainment, reality, factual and documentary productions.

I provide pre-production psychological assessments and contributor screening, considering mental health history, current psychological wellbeing, vulnerabilities, resilience and potential risks. I advise productions on fitness and suitability for participation, safeguarding, risk management and appropriate welfare measures.

My work also includes on-location and remote support during filming, consultation with production and welfare teams, crisis and risk assessment, post-production aftercare, and psychological support for production employees.

I understand the unique pressures associated with television participation, including public exposure, competition, rejection, interpersonal conflict, disclosure of sensitive experiences and the impact of social media. My role is to combine clinical judgement with a practical understanding of production environments, helping productions protect contributor welfare while navigating the realities of programme-making.

Clinical & Military Experience

Alongside my television work, I have extensive clinical experience within the NHS and private mental health sector, including providing specialist psychological and trauma-focused therapy to military veterans. I currently provide individual psychological therapy, both face-to-face and remotely, at a medical practice in Harley Street.

My background as a Mental Health Nurse includes working with a broad range of mental health presentations, from common psychological difficulties to severe and enduring mental illness. This provides a strong clinical foundation for identifying vulnerability, assessing risk and determining when specialist intervention may be required.

Prior to my civilian clinical career, I served for 15 years in the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC), achieving the rank of Sergeant. My service included working within a military psychiatric hospital in Germany, an operational deployment to Bosnia and three years as a recruit instructor.

This combination of advanced psychological therapy qualifications, Mental Health Nursing expertise, ongoing BPS-accredited postgraduate study, trauma experience, military service and over 13 years working directly with television productions enables me to provide robust, compassionate and informed mental health advice throughout the production process.

My approach is professional, empathic, non-judgemental and evidence-based, with contributor wellbeing, appropriate safeguarding and responsible psychological care at the centre of my practice.
