Mental Health Support for Production Crew & Media Workers

People working behind the scenes in TV, film, and media face intense pressure — during casting, filming, editing, and post-broadcast. Many production professionals and freelancers experience high stress, burnout, anxiety, or trauma symptoms due to the demands of the industry.

The Hidden Stress of Media & Production Work

Production crew often deal with:

  • Long hours and tight deadlines

  • Exposure to distressing stories, footage, or conflict

  • Freelance instability and long gaps between jobs

  • Blame, criticism, or being “weaponised” by the media

  • Isolation and fear of speaking out due to the small industry

These pressures can lead to stress, low mood, burnout, vicarious trauma, acute stress, or PTSD symptoms. Many crew members feel they must be “grateful for the work,” even when conditions are overwhelming.
